THE SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER/BREAKFAST GROUP CONTINUES TO MEET ON THE SECOND AND FOURTH SUNDAYS. Join us at 9:15 A.M. in the Meeting House on May 9th and May 23rd . OLD COLONY SUNDAY will be observed on Sunday, May 2 at 10 A.M. This tradition began with the Rev. Dr. David Beach in 1948, and includes a processional by the Second Company of the Governor’s Foot Guard. OFFICE CLOSING BOARD MEETINGS FOR MAY Board of Stewards – Saturday, May 8th – 10:00 a.m. – Parish House Board of Deacons - Sunday, May 9th 11:15 a.m. – Meeting House Church Council - Monday, May 17th – 5:30 p.m. – Parish House Christian Outreach – Wednesday, May 12th – 4:00 p.m. – Parish House Crypt Committee – Wednesday, May 26th - 4:00 p.m. – Parish House NEW MEMBER CLASS ON SUNDAY, MAY 2 AT THE PARISH HOUSE, FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. We will eat lunch, get to know each other, and learn a bit about the church and our denomination. New members will be received into the church on Pentecost Sunday, May 23. PRE-CONFIRMATION CLASS FOR CHILDREN AGE 12 AND OLDER: The last class until the fall will be held on Sunday, May 16 in the Parish House after worship. Lunch will be served and pick up is at 12:45. A SPECIAL SERVICE ON SUNDAY, MAY 30TH A Reading of Letters from Americans who have fought in War. For the past four years, it has become a tradition for the service to consist of reading letters from people who fought in wars. We have found this to be a very moving service, so join us.
LOOKING AHEAD TO JUNE: CHILDREN’S DAY WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, JUNE 6. The children will lead the worship service and also tell us the story of Jonah and the whale. ADULT EDUCATION: GREAT SERMONS: Join us for potluck and discussion of great sermons on Wednesday, June 16 and Tuesday, June 29 at 5:30 for potluck, 6:15 for sermon discussion in the Parish House library. We will read some sermons considered “great” and reflect together on why they have stood the test of time.
